I believe we are talented, in whatever form, by God’s grace. He gives us the abilities to execute the plans he has for us, whether that be in our relationships, our workplaces, our churches, our communities, or our passions. I am so thankful to have been placed in an industry I love and care about so much. I believe beauty does not need to be limited to the superficial. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the materialism, the self-absorption and the insecurities. But I know that my identity does not lie in what I do, nor how I dress, nor what I look like. I am an artist, by God’s grace alone. It is through His grace, that I am able to create, in any way.
“If someone claims that your professional status is a result of grace, you immediately think they don’t know how hard you worked in school and at your internships, how you have performed better than your peers at work, and so on. However, you worked with talents you did not earn; they were given to you. You went through doors of opportunity you did not produce; they just opened for you. Therefore, everything you have is a matter of grace, and so you have the freedom to serve the world through your influence, just as you can through your competence.” + Tim Keller, “Every Good Endeavor“
